Morphology Migmatite Dungal Metatexite Diatexit

Abstract

The general geology of rocks around Dungal was accessed with a view to classify the rocks
and determined their tectonic origin using field relationship, petrography and geochem-
istry of the rocks. The rocks were classified as migmatite which were further sub divided
into metatexite, diatexite, and pegmatitic neosome. Geochemistry indicates that they are
formed from mixtures of magmas, addition or subtraction of solid phases by contami-
nation or fractional/partial melt crystallization. They are peraluminous and calc alkaline
affinity which indicates that they from metasedimentary sources, also the high content of
SiO2 (Na2O + K2O) and Al2O3, MgO, Fe2O3, & CaO low concentration imply that the magma
was derived from partial melting of the lower crustal rocks.
